Placing a Memorial
Many families choose to honour a loved one at Metropolitan. Metropolitan Bushey holds deep connections with former Metropolitan Police Service officers and staff, as well as members who shared sporting, social, or community ties with us.
We welcome memorial applications where space allows. All memorials must meet our specifications and are subject to approval by our board of directors.
Alongside a limited number of benches and trees, we are also planning to have a Memorial Wall, offering a meaningful way to commemorate loved ones without the cost or ongoing maintenance of a physical installation.
What should you do next?
Please use the button below to complete our Memorial Application Form. This helps us understand your loved one’s connection to Metropolitan and your preferred type of memorial.

Memorial Options and Guidance
Benches
Picnic-style benches are encouraged, as they are well used and enjoyed by our members and visitors.
Traditional benches may still be requested, but we have many already in place, and these often remain unused.
Trees
Although we have extensive grounds, much of the land is used for sport and events. This means only a small number of trees can be planted each year. All applications are considered, but approvals are limited.
Plaques (Memorial Wall)
Our planned Memorial Wall will provide a dedicated space for plaques, offering a lasting tribute without the maintenance requirements of a bench or tree.
Memorial Requirements
- All benches — including picnic benches — must be made from recycled composite plastic. This material is environmentally friendly, durable, and low-maintenance.
- The location of any approved bench or tree will be determined by the club to ensure safety, accessibility, and suitability.
- Plaques placed on the Memorial Wall will remain in their fixed location and will not be moved.
Costs & Maintenance
Metropolitan does not charge for placing a memorial.
However, the club does not maintain memorials on behalf of families. Please plan for any upkeep such as flowers, cleaning, or plaque polishing.
As a non-profit organisation, we also welcome donations from families who prefer to support the club in lieu of placing a bench or tree.
