Gym Membership & Gym Use – Terms & Conditions
Thank you for choosing to use the gym facilities at Metropolitan Bushey. We both need a contract so that your rights and our rights are protected. We have tried to make these as brief and clear as possible.
The Membership Contract
- Your contract is with Metropolitan Police Bushey Sports Club Limited.
- By joining the gym or using our facilities, you accept these terms and confirm you have the legal capacity to enter into a membership agreement.
- You must provide accurate information when joining and keep your details up to date.
- Membership begins once payment has been received and you have received confirmation from us.
- We reserve the right to refuse membership or access if necessary for safety or operational reasons.
- You must be over the age of 18 years old to use the gym.
Membership Types & Payments
- We offer a range of membership options (monthly or annual).
- Membership fees are payable in advance and are non-refundable unless stated otherwise.
- Direct debit members are responsible for ensuring payments are made on time.
- If a payment fails, access may be suspended until the balance is cleared.
- Any promotional rates or introductory offers may be withdrawn or changed at any time.
Membership Cancellation
- Cancellation terms vary depending on your membership type.
- Notice periods may apply — please check your membership agreement.
- Cancellations must be made in writing or via the method specified in your joining confirmation.
- Refunds are not offered for unused membership periods unless required by law.
Freezes & Pauses
- Some memberships may allow temporary freezes (e.g., medical reasons, extended travel).
- Evidence may be required for medical freezes.
- Freeze periods must be requested in advance and cannot be backdated.
Gym Access & Opening Hours
- Members may only access the gym during published opening hours.
- Opening hours may change for maintenance, events, or operational reasons.
- We may temporarily close areas of the gym for cleaning, repairs, or safety checks.
Health, Safety & Medical Conditions
- You are responsible for ensuring you are fit and able to use the gym safely.
- If you have any medical conditions, please consult a doctor before exercising.
- You must follow all safety instructions, signage, and staff guidance.
- If you feel unwell while exercising, stop immediately and inform a member of staff.
Inductions & Equipment Use
- A gym induction is required before using equipment.
- You must use equipment correctly and safely at all times.
- Misuse of equipment may result in injury or damage — we cannot accept liability for this.
Behaviour & Conduct
We want everyone to enjoy their workout. We operate a zero-tolerance policy on:
- Aggressive or abusive behaviour
- Unsafe conduct
- Misuse of equipment
Anyone breaking these rules may be removed or have their membership suspended without refund.
Clothing & Footwear
- Appropriate gym clothing must be worn at all times.
- Closed-toe sports shoes are required — no sandals, boots, or bare feet.
- Please bring a towel and wipe down equipment after use.
Personal Belongings
- Please keep your belongings with you or use the lockers provided.
- Management is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal items.
- Lockers are for day use only and may be cleared overnight.
Cleanliness & Hygiene
- Please wipe down equipment after use.
- Do not attend the gym if you are unwell.
- Food is not permitted in the gym area.
- Water must be in sealed, non-glass containers.
Damage & Liability
- You are responsible for any damage caused by misuse of equipment.
- We are not liable for injuries caused by unsafe behaviour or failure to follow instructions.
- We aim to keep equipment in good working order, but temporary faults may occur.
CCTV & Security
- CCTV operates throughout the gym for safety and security.
- Footage may be used for incident investigation and crime prevention.
Privacy
- You will receive membership confirmation emails and essential service updates.
- If you opt in to marketing, we may send information about offers and classes; you may opt out at any time.
- Under GDPR, Metropolitan Police Bushey Sports Club Limited is the Data Controller.
Changes
- We aim to keep all information accurate, but details may change without notice.
- Website content is not legally binding and should not be relied upon as a representation of fact.
Rights & Jurisdiction
- We may amend these terms at any time.
- It is your responsibility to review the current terms and conditions.
- These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
